Seed Ministries International is a non-denominational Christian ministry dedicated to equipping rural church leaders, distributing God's Word, and serving communities with compassion across India.
About Us
Rooted in faith, committed to rural India since 2005.
Seed Ministries International (SMI) is a registered Religious & Charitable Trust and a non-denominational Christian organization serving rural churches across India. Established in September 2005 under the leadership of the late Rev. N. Gnanaraja, former General Secretary of Scripture Union, India, and Regional Secretary of South East Asia, SMI was founded to carry forward a vision born from decades of Scripture ministry and faithful service.
Life begins with a seed — and when the seed is sown, it grows and bears fruit over time. While praying for India in Madagascar, Rev. Gnanaraja received a vision to sow God's Word into the hearts of rural folks across this nation. That seed of faith continues to guide SMI as we reach villages, small towns, and language groups with the life-giving message of the Bible.

To SOW the SEED of God's Word into the hearts of rural folks across India, so that lives, churches, and communities may grow and bear lasting fruit.
Our Mission
To reach out to rural India and to all language groups. Our target areas are small towns and villages — equipping rural church leaders, making Scriptures accessible, and strengthening ministry among underprivileged communities.
We empower rural church leaders to rise to the challenges of poverty, caste disparities, and religious persecution so they can be effective in their ministry.
Our Beliefs
We hold to the historic Christian faith as revealed in Scripture. We believe:
- We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God — authoritative and infallible in the original writings.
- We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ — His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, bodily resurrection, ascension to the right hand of God the Father, and personal return in power and glory to judge the living and the dead.
- We believe that salvation is by grace through faith alone in Christ alone, for lost and sinful humanity.
- We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
- We believe in the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and eternal life.
- We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in Jesus Christ.

Three Pillars of Outreach
Scripture Distribution to Rural India
With the objective of placing the Scriptures into the hands of rural folks across India, SMI makes Scriptures affordable and accessible through subsidized BSI Bible distribution. Through a network of distributors involved in village ministry, rural church leaders obtain God's Word for distribution throughout their communities.
On the third Saturday of every month, rural church leaders gather at the Bible Distributors Meet to collect BSI Bibles at subsidized prices and receive encouragement for their work.
Seed Ministries International Institute of Leadership
Leaders are the pillars of the Church. Empowering rural church leaders to take on Religious & Social Challenges is essential — when leadership is strong and sound, the Church can rise and shine for God's glory. The Institute equips leaders through seminars, workshops, and training programmes grounded in the Word of God, with one-to-one counselling also offered.
Churches and non-profit organizations are welcome to partner with us in conducting leadership training programmes across India.
Karisanai — Caring for the Needy
Karisanai is a charity project aimed at the social upliftment of the underprivileged — our CARE for the poor, underprivileged, downtrodden, and oppressed. Our focus includes poor widows, children, persons with disabilities, and people affected by Hansen's disease in rural areas — through practical help that reflects the compassion of Christ.

- Tailoring machines and electronic devices
- Food and essentials for the homeless
- House construction for needy families
- Regular monthly support for persons with disabilities
- Financial aid for underprivileged children's education
